Board Members
Dr David Rawnsley – Chair
Chairperson since Oct. 2022. Board Member since Sept. 2019 (Re-elected for second term in Oct. 2022)
As a local Hills resident Dave is aware of The Hut and many of its achievements over a long period of time.
David has had a career in Education and has provided volunteer time in the disability sector for many years. David brings his experience in these areas plushis experience on Finance Committees and on other charity boards, understanding the importance of financial sustainability. He also understands the importance of thinking strategically in using funds to serve The Hut’s plans and goals, so that the benefits show in the community.
David is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and brings strategic thinking and experience, both as educator and through previous board experience.
Prof Deborah Turnbull – Deputy Chair
Deputy Chair since Oct. 2022. (Re-elected Board Member Oct 22 after previously serving two terms from 2013-2019)
Deb has lived in Stirling since 1995. She holds a professorial position in the School of Psychology at the University of Adelaide where she is active as a teacher and researcher.
Deb has a range of experience in governance and strategic development. Deb has held numerous leadership roles including Head of School of Psychology and Chair of the Research Advisory Board of the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute. She has also held the position as convenor of the Heads of Departments and Schools of Psychology Association and Chair of the University of Adelaide’s Gender Equity and Diversity Committee.
Deb Turnbull sits on the Management Committee of the Freemasons Centre for Male Health and Wellbeing and serves on the Council of Kathleen Lumley College.
Deb is the Academic Lead for Internationalisation in the School of Psychology.
Greg Bussell
Board Member since Oct. 2020 (re-elected after previously serving two terms from 2013)
Greg holds a number of qualifications including a BHA (Health Administration) and MOH (University of NSW). He has had roles on the Northern Tasmanian, Queen Elizabeth and North Adelaide Regional Health Boards and was previously Manager, school of Population Health at University of Adelaide. Greg is also a grape grower and vineyard manager based at Piccadilly.
Catherine Bayliss
Board Member since November 2024
Catherine has extensive experience in delivering State and Commonwealth funded programs designed to increase participation in the workforce and developing the capacity of people already in the workforce. These include Career Development Services, Skills for All community-based projects, Workplace Rehabilitation Services and National Panel Assessor Services.
With a strong focus on community involvement, she has 6 years’ experience in chairing community-based Boards and participation in Council Access and Inclusion Committees.
Catherine has spent the last 10 years managing NDIS funded Home & Community Support Services for Barossa Enterprises.
Transitioning into retirement, she is now working on developing her woodworking skills in the Community Shed.
Catherine has lived in the Adelaide Hills with her family since 1986. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Graduate Cert in Business Management.
Marcus Booth-Remmers
Board Member since November 2024
Marcus is probably best known as the owner and operator of Red Cacao Chocolates in the beautiful village of Stirling.
Having lived in the area since the age of 11, working in a range of businesses before opening Red Cacao Chocolates in 2013 and being a board member of the Stirling Business Association has given Marcus an in-depth understanding of the immense diversity and breadth of the Adelaide Hills region.
Marcus has successfully run Red Cacao for over 11 years and has navigated his business through some intense times such as natural disasters, shifts in the economy and Covid-19.
Marcus brings to the Board entrepreneurial zeal, business accolades, board experience, passion for the community and environmental conscientiousness.
Ann Croser
Board Member since Sept. 2019 (Re-elected for 2nd term in Oct. 22)
Ann’s formal qualifications in Law and Accounting, legal experience and general experience in operating business over some 40 years gives her an important and diverse skill set that contributes to the governance and financial sustainability of The Hut.
Dr Sarah Moulds
Board Member since Oct. 2022
Dr Sarah Moulds is a senior lecturer in law UNI SA: Justice + Society and co-founder of the Rights Resource Network SA. She is passionate about parliaments and connecting citizens and communities with law makers. Dr Moulds has been actively engaged in local, national and international conversations about emergency law-making in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role parliaments can and should play in holding government’s to account.
Sarah has teaching and research interests in the area of public law, human rights, counter-terrorism and criminal law, administrative law and anti-discrimination law.
Sarah’s career has a strong law reform focus and includes seven years at the Law Council of Australia including as Director of Criminal Law and Human Rights, and more recently as a Senior Project Officer at the South Australian Law Reform Institute.
Pamela Patane
Board Member since October 2022
Pamela moved to the Adelaide Hills 3 years ago.
Pamela is a corporate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience working in-house for service delivery organisations in a variety of sectors.
Pamela’s current and recent roles have involved advising on legal operational matters (procurement, government contracting and general commercial) as well as providing governance, risk and compliance support to organisations.
Alongside Pamela’s professional career, she has always maintained an interest in participating in some way in her local community where additional resources or assistance is needed, particularly in support for young people.
Jenni Bottroff – Treasurer
Jenni has lived in the town of Uraidla in the Adelaide Hills since October, 2002 with her husband and 2 daughters.
Jenni is a degree qualified accountant with a public practice certificate and runs her own accounting practice, BHC Partners Pty Ltd, in Woodside with her business partner. Jenni has been involved in community roles serving on the CPA Women’s Committee for a number of years, some as its president, on the Uraidla Primary School governing council as Treasurer, committee member of Uraidla Netball Club and acting in an honorary role auditing some community organisations. She is also currently a member of the CPA Public Practice committee and member of Imagine Uraidla Inc.
Dr Tony Rogers
Tony has lived in Stirling with his family (wife, Gillian, and two children, Molly and Ned) since the end of 1988. Tony has been on the governing council at Heathfield high School, currently runs a creative writing group at The Hut and has also ran several creative writing groups in local prisons. From 1987 to 1990, Tony interspersed periods as fulltime house-husband with teaching. From 1990 to 1999, he was a lecturer in education at UniSA.
Tony has been the principal of a school on an island off the west coast of Canada. At various times, Tony has worked with vision-impaired people, deaf people and those with a physical impairment.
Since retiring, Tony has been writing about the history of South Australia and the weather, also writing For All to See and The Water Scientists for the Hydrological Society of SA to celebrate their first 60 years with income from these books going to support local charities. I figure it is one way in which I can give back to society.
